As the temperature haves been falling, we have started to see weather predictions of snow in the forecast. As the snow falls & piles up, you’ll be out shoveling or snowblowing to clear out your driveway/sidewalk. We want to pass on some tips and information to help keep you safe & healthy while doing it.
1. If you look at the forecast and see it is calling for snow, throw down some salt on your front step & sidewalks the night before to reduce the ice that could build up there before you start to clear it the next morning.
2. If you’re shoveling, consider a snowthrower. While it may seem fitting for us to recommend it because we sell them, we want to offer an un-biased opinion. Harvard University has done a study on heart health when shoveling & you can read all about it here.
3. If you already have a snowthrower or you are in the market, be sure to consider a snowthrower that has a “self-propelled” drive system. The Cub Cadet 2X & 3X snowblowers all have a 6 speed Forward & 2 Speed Reverse drive system with “steerable” wheels that use disengage levers to help minimize the stress and strain on your body.
